ECSACONM Module Development

The East, Central, and Southern Africa College of Nursing and Midwifery (ECSACONM) is collaborating with SELF to develop skills training modules focused on perioperative care for nurses. These modules aim to strengthen the knowledge, clinical judgment, and practical skills of nursing professionals involved in surgical care. Designed for low-resource settings, the modules emphasize hands-on learning that can be accessed independently or in group settings, supporting nurses in delivering safe, high-quality care before, during, and after surgery across the region.

What is task deconstruction?

In the context of procedural medicine and training, task deconstruction is a process of breaking down a complex procedure into smaller, manageable components or steps. Each step is analyzed in detail, allowing learners to focus on individual elements of the task before putting everything together into a complete procedure.

The purpose of task deconstruction in procedural skills training is to simplify the learning process and identify key skills required at each step of a procedure.
