Unlock Free Access to Simulation-based Training Modules

Explore our innovative procedural skills training and start learning today.

SELF training modules empower learners to teach themselves procedural skills through direct feedback from a simulator and a self-assessment method. Learners can be anywhere and practice as often as they want.

SELF modules enable independent learning and self-assessment without a physically present instructor.

SELF Training Framework

Each SELF training module—regardless of specialty, skill, or procedure—has three primary elements

Knowledge Learning

Learners need to grasp the knowledge required for precise application of skills in specific contexts. Each SELF module offers comprehensive insights into the disease, epidemiology, pathophysiology, and pertinent anatomy. It also addresses decision-making in non-operative management, surgical indications, and operative strategies.

Simulation Learning

Learners must apply their knowledge by practicing the physical and decision-making aspects of a skill using an easy-to-build simulator. SELF training modules provide clear instructions for constructing simulators with cost-effective, locally available materials. These materials must achieve sufficient fidelity to ensure learners can safely translate their skills into clinical practice.

Self-Assessment

Without an instructor, learners need to receive feedback on their skill training. SELF training modules incorporate a self-administered skills assessment framework to provide targeted, formative feedback on skill execution. This self-assessment can include pre- and post-learning quizzes, verification checklists, peer community feedback, AI to help determine when they are truly ready. Each self-administered skills assessment technique is designed to function without direct instructor involvement.
